Ram Mandir Inauguration: Pran Pratishtha done; PM Modi unveils Ram Lalla idol in Ayodhya
Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Shri Ram Janmaboomi Temple in Ayodhya to participate in the Ram Temple Pran Pratishtha ceremony.Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, saints, and various distinguished guests are also present at the event.

• The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust disclosed that the ceremony will be enhanced by a spectacular musical event named ‘Mangal Dhwani’.
• PM Narendra Modi unveils the Ram Lalla idol at the Shri Ram Janmaboomi Temple in Ayodhya.
• The Ayodhya Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid issue is one of the most controversial land disputes in India, which was settled in 2019 with the Supreme Court delivering a verdict paving the way for the construction of the temple, built on the site of the Masjid.

1 crore households to get rooftop solar system under ‘PM Suryodaya Yojana’ announces Prime Minister
Prime Minister  Narendra Modi has announced ‘Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana’ under which one crore households will get rooftop solar system. 

• Mr Modi said that the people of the country should have their own solar roof top system. He added that this will not only reduce the electricity bill of the poor and middle class, but also make India self-reliant in energy sector.

Defence minister inaugurates 35 Border Road projects worth Rs 670 crore
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated 35 infrastructure projects constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), valued at Rs 670 crore, during an event at Joshimath-Malari Road in Uttarakhand .

• Out of the 35 projects inaugurated, 29 are bridges, and six are roads. 11 of these projects are being constructed in Jammu & Kashmir, nine in Ladakh, eight in Arunachal Pradesh, three in Uttarakhand, two in Sikkim, one in Mizoram, and one in Himachal Pradesh.
• The inauguration was organised at Dhak Bridge, a 93-meter-long Class 70R bridge over Dhak Nalla. The remaining 34 were inaugurated virtually.

Indian Army launches ‘Operation Sarvashakti’ to thwart Pak’s attempts to revive terrorism in Kashmir
India has continuously flagged persistent terrorist activities sponsored by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir on national and international stages. In a bid to crack down on these, the Indian Army is initiating ‘Operation Sarvashakti’. 

• The motto of launching this operation is to counteract the resurgence of terrorism orchestrated by Pakistani proxy groups along the Pir Panjal mountain ranges in the Union Territory.
• Pakistani-backed terrorist organisations have been actively attempting to revive terrorism in the Rajouri Poonch sector, resulting in the loss of approximately 20 soldiers in recent attacks. The latest incident occurred on December 21, claiming the lives of four soldiers in the Dera ki Gali area.

Union Ayush Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal lays foundation stone for State-of-the-Art ‘Ayush Diksha’ centre at Bhubaneswar
The Union Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping & Waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone for ‘Ayush Diksha’, a first of its kind centre for development of human resources for Ayush professionals of future. This state-of-the-art centre will be developed within the campus of Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Bhubaneswar.

• The institution will offer training programmes for Ayush professionals, especially those from Ayurveda, as it aims to collaborate with national institutes of prominence for capacity development, strengthening human resources, facilitate research and development, achieve self-sustainability with an objective to generate revenue.
• The Ayush Diksha centre is being built with a budget of ₹30 crores. It will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including two auditoriums, 40 modern rooms with all amenities, suites for VIPs, dedicated space for a natural library, discussion rooms, modular kitchen, dining lounge, among other amenities.

WHO releases guidelines for multi-modal generative AI in healthcare, resonates with recommendations for other sectors
The World Health Organization (WHO) has released comprehensive guidance on the ethical use and governance of large multi-modal models (LMM) in healthcare. 

• This fast-growing generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology, capable of processing diverse data inputs like text, videos and images, is revolutionising healthcare delivery and medical research.
• LMMs, known for their ability to mimic human communication and perform tasks without explicit programming, have been adopted more rapidly than any other consumer technology in history, the United Nations health agency noted. Platforms like ChatGPT, Bard and Bert have become household names since their introduction only last year.

Sony Terminates $10 Billion Merger Deal with Zee Entertainment
Sony issued a notice terminating the merger agreement with Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (ZEEL) and Culver Max Entertainment Private Limited (CME), formerly known as Sony Pictures Networks India Private Limited.

• The $10-billion deal, signed on December 22, 2021, faced challenges in meeting closing conditions within the specified timeframe.
• Despite engaging in good faith discussions to extend the merger cooperation agreement’s end date, Sony and Zee failed to reach an agreement by the January 21 deadline. The termination comes after over two years of negotiations, with disappointment expressed by Sony over unmet closing conditions.

Ravi Kumar Dahiya wins bronze medal at Grand Prix De France 2024
Tokyo Olympic silver medallist Ravi Kumar Dahiya, who faced a setback in the form of injuries, made a triumphant return to the wrestling arena by securing a bronze medal at the prestigious Grand Prix De France Henri Deglane wrestling tournament held in Nice, France.

• Dahiya overcame Julien Zinser of Germany in the round of 16 via technical superiority (13-2) followed by a 12-6 win over Zangar Kabylbekov of Kazakhstan in the quarter-final. However, the Indian wrestler suffered a 6-3 defeat against Arman Eloyan of France in the semi-final and was pulled into the bronze medal bout.

India’s Man Singh bags Gold medal at Asian Marathon Championships 2024 in Hong Kong
India’s Man Singh claimed the gold medal at the Asian Marathon Championships 2024 with a personal best timing of two hours 14 minutes and 19 seconds in Hong Kong.

• The 34-year-old Indian marathon runner comfortably beat runner-up Huang Yongzheng of China with a time difference of 65 seconds in the men’s event. Kyrgyzstan’s Tiapkin Ilya came third in 2:18:18.
• In the women’s event, India’s Ashvini Jadhav finished eighth in 2:56:42 and Jyoti Gawate finished 11th in 3:06:20. The entry standard for the women’s marathon for the Paris 2024 Olympics is 2:26:50.

President Droupadi Murmu confers Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to 19 children
President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, 2024 to nineteen exceptional children in New Delhi.

• The award was conferred upon 19 children selected from all regions of the country for their achievements in the field of Art and Culture, Bravery, Innovation, Social Service and Sports. There are nine boys and ten girls among the awardees belonging to 18 States and Union Territories including two Aspirational Districts.
